Our new outdoor box turtle enclosures are finally done! Let’s set them up for our group of 3-toed box turtles, a midwestern turtle icon! Unfortunately, temperatures are starting to drop but we are happy to get them out to enjoy the last few weeks of warm sun before brumation time. This stunning three-toed box turtle was donated to me a few years back after it was found far from its natural range. It’s bold colorful appearance led me to ask around people more educated on box turtles than myself, as to it’s species “purity” and the consensus was indeed three-toed box turtle.
